Starflower Oil: What is it ?

Starflower Oil is also known by the slightly less romantic name 'borage' oil. Starflower oil contains the same active ingredients as Evening Primrose Oil and so has more or less identical therapeutic properties. Starflower oil does have the advantage though that it requires lower therapeutic dosages.

Starflower seed oil contains Gamma-Linolenic Acid (GLA), which is naturally produced in the body and is converted to anti-inflammatory prostaglandins which are hormone-like compounds. It is this anti-inflammatory nature of GLA that accounts for most of its therapeutic effects.
