How Gerovital GH3 Was Discovered
In 1905 Procaine Hydrochloride was synthesized by Dr Alfred Einhorn. Its 2 basic components occur naturally in the body (Para-aminobenzoic acid - PABA - a member of the B vitamin complex and Diethylaminoethanol - DEAE). He named the substance PROCAINE.Procaine proved itself to be an excellent anaesthetic and was used extensively by dentists under the name Novacaine. It was highly effective basically non-toxic and had no addictive qualities.
In the late 1940's Professor Ana Aslan of the National Geriatric Institute in Bucharest was looking for ways to bring relief from pain in the arthritic joints of elderly patients. She used Procaine HCl. The patients did get relief plus increased mobility, but that was not all. They began to exhibit improvements in both physical and mental well being, far beyond the arthritic benefits.

These improvements in arthritis sufferers were definite but small. Professor Aslan and her team realized that the Procaine rapidly broke down, only remaining active in the body for a very short time.Working with her colleagues Professor Aslan added potassium metabisulphite and disodium phosphate to the procaine which had the desired effect of sustaining it within the body for between 6 and 9 hours.
Professor Aslan undertook a 2 year study of 15,000 workers. During this study the sick days off work of those on GH3 fell by 40%.
While Professor Aslan was making her study a flu epidemic swept across Europe. The death-rate among the research group was 2.7%. At the same time, among those receiving "normal" medical treatment, the death-rate was 13.9%... more than 5 times higher.

The original Aslan formula had 50mg of Procaine.Today's formula is essentially the same, except that the optimum amount has been found to be a little over 100mg of Procaine per tablet.

GH3 is Procaine HCl buffered and stabilised by the addition of Benzoic Acid and Potassium Metabisulphite as an antioxidant. How GH3 Works
PABA stimulates "good" intestinal flora to produce vitamins K and B and also Folic acid, whilst DEAE helps generate choline and acetlycholine both of which are essential for the effective functioning of the spleen, liver, brain and nerve synapses.In particular DEAE is the agent which normalises the level of monoamine oxidase (MAO) in the brain thereby relieving depression. How To Take Gerovital GH3
Gerovital must not be digested. For Gerovital to work it must be taken correctly as described below.Two Gerovital GH3 tablets must be taken on an empty stomach with a full glass of water.
Put your Gerovital tablets and a covered glass of water by your bed. Take the tablets and the full glass of water as soon as you wake up.
Because it dilutes the digestive enzymes and
helps the tablets pass intact through the stomach
and into the small intestine.
Let nothing but toothpaste pass your lips for an hour. There should be nothing else absorbed into the blood through the small intestine at the same time as the GH3.
Some people find difficulty having to wait one hour in the morning before having coffee or breakfast. GH3 can be taken later in the day as long as it is ingested on an empty stomach - two hours away from the last meal (3 hours if it was a large or "fatty" meal) - and one hour is allowed afterwards without taking anything but water.
The body should not have to rely too extensively on a substance such as GH3, so it is advisable to have a rest period of about five days every 25 days, just to allow the body to perform naturally again, and not become dependant on supplemental help and to maintain a healthy functional balance.
Metabolism and absorption rates differ from person to person, therefore Gerovital can take a couple of months to build to to its maximum effect.
Side Effects and Interactions
Through the 48 years of research and usage, Gerovital GH3 has never shown adverse side-effects.Studies show that 1 person in 6000 may have an allergy giving mild symptoms of a slight rash and a prickling sensation in the skin.
Research shows that some have a mild headache and slight feeling of nausea for two to three days. This is explained as arising from the system "adjusting" to the new input and in particular being detoxified by the potent antioxidant element of GH3.

PROCAINE HCl: Hydrolyses in the body into its two elements:
- PABA (Para-aminobenzoic acid) - stimulates "good" intestinal flora to produce vitamins B and K and Folic Acid.
- DEAE (Diethylaminoethanol) - generates choline and acetylcholine, both of which are essential to the effective functioning of the spleen, liver, brain and nerve impulse relays. It also normalises the level of mono-amine oxidase (MAO) in the brain, thereby functioning as an antidepressant.
METABISULPHITE: has blood cleaning and arterial cleaning effect, and works towards reducing hypertension.
POTASSIUM: stabilises the Procaine molecule to extend and reinforce its actions on the nervous system.
